Competing against the Series 62 Caddys and Series 400 Packards was no easy task but the '54 Lincoln Capri held its ground with the big boys. Once your eyes make it past the large slab sides with projecting headlights, raised fender crowns, and bold rear fender lines you can't help but wonder what more this gorgeous, chrome glad, sedan had to offer. Power bench seats, power windows, power steering, power brakes, automatic Hydra-Matic transmission, and a 317.5 CID V8 with a downdraft 4 barrel holley all helped push this luxury sedan to the front of the showroom floor
We just so happened to stumble upon this brilliant unmolested car that turned out to be even nicer than we expected. This particular car was purchased from a private party in Kansas where it sat inside their insulated barn. It is extremely dry and solid, appearing to have been restored over 10 years ago and it still shows in excellent condition. All body lines are pronounced and straight. The adjacent panel lines are tight and consistent, indicative of a straight car that has not been crashed. All trim, chrome and hardware are present. The front bumper could use re chroming but it is straight and complete
The interior is complete and in fantastic condition as you can see. Carpets are plush and clean and the seat covers and door trim all are in flawless condition. The dash is original and shows great patina and charm. The car retained her original radio which still shows in excellent condition. All power options are in good working order as well as all crank vents and levers. The headliner is tight and clean. All floor boards are nice and solid thanks in part to some original undercoating
The engine bay is a walk back in time showing some of the finest Lincoln V8 patina we have ever seen. We didn't touch anything under the hood other than washing it down. The firewall is excellent and indicative of a nice solid car. Original paint on the block, manifold, oil bath filter and valve covers all hold true to the detail of the Lincolns of this time. The 317.5 is in excellent condition and fires right up and runs smooth at idle and in the upper RPMS. The V8 breaths through an original Holley 4 bbl Down Draft Carburetor and out the back through a dual exhaust with a set of glass packs. Backing the big V8 is a 4 Speed Hydra-Matic Automatic transmission
This beautiful example of American steel is not only a looker, it is also a driver. It is in excellent running and driving condition. It does have a small oil leak that we have yet to investigate. It sounds great and fires right up. This car is a blast to drive and turns heads everywhere you go
