This is a car that we've had our sights set on for a long time. Owned by a friend of ours, a Chicago-based lawyer, this car has been brought here for service and detailing on a couple occasions. In recent months we've developed a real liking for the R129 SLs, and finally were able to purchase the granddaddy of them all, the SL600 Sport, with the 6.0L V12 and electronically adjustable suspension. Finished in the excellent colorway of Brilliantsilber Metallic over Orion Grey Leather and with just 30,200 miles from new, this car is truly as good as the R129 gets. This car offers tremendous performance, serious comfort, and undeniable style. This car will be sold with all original manuals and booklets, in addition to a number of recent service receipts. While there are a handful of smaller receipts for things like oil changes, some of the more significant services are as follows
01/2011 at 26k: Replace front brake pads and rotors, flush brake system, flush coolant, replace shifter bushings, oil change
09/2011: Refinish and repaint all wheels, replace body acceleration sensor
07/2014: General inspection, change oil and filter, mount and balance Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 (245-40/18 front, 275-35/18 rear), re-torque steering gear bolts, lubricate throttle linkage assembly, torque driveshaft assembly bolts, replace air cleaner elements, replace both rear brake rotors and pads, bead blast clean all brake hardware, bleed brakes, replace rear brake pad wear sensors, four wheel alignment
12/2016 at 29k: Replace both level control pressure reservoir accumulators
07/2017 at 29k: Replace engine and transmission mounts on right and left, replace steering idler arm, adjust wheel bearings, replace ambient temperature sensor, recharge air conditioning, replace spark plugs, change transmission oil pan gasket, filter, and change fluid
Evolve Motors & Chicago Car Club are pleased to present this 1999 Mercedes Benz SL600
As I mentioned, we purchased this 1999 SL600 from a local gentleman, the second owner, who had owned the car for the last fourteen years. During his ownership, he has put just shy of 10,000 miles on the car, many of which were added during his long highway drives from Chicago to his place in Florida. This car is undoubtedly a top-of-the-market example; it has been garage-kept, adult-owned, and well maintained. Outside, inside, and underneath, this car is in extremely impressive shape, close-to-new, even. Looking at the condition of the car, it's very clear that it has been adored since being sold new at Benjamin Motors of Albertson, NY
Exterior: The body on this car is as straight as an arrow. There are no door dings or blemishes other than a few chips, all of which have been touched up and are only visible upon close inspection. A couple small chips are present on the passenger rear wheel well, and there is a very light scuff on the top corner of the driver's rear quarter (see photo with fingernail size comparison). Brilliantsilber Metallic paint presents extremely well. No scratches, no spots of clear-coat aging, and, as noted, only the tiniest little chips. Unlike many of the R129 SLs we see, this car does not have the two-tone, plasticy look. Rather, it's one solid color, which we really like. Wheels were refinished and repainted 4,000 miles ago and look as-new. Hardtop is also in as-new condition. All lights and glass are clear and crack-free, tires are close to new, with only about 2,000 miles on them. The SL600 Sport's AMG front bumper, rear bumper, and side skirts all have their AMG part numbers clearly
