British Racing Green / Tan Interior

VIN: JM1NA3517M0221719

Chicago Car Club is pleased to present this 1991 Mazda Miata SE!

What we know:

We purchased this '91 Miata SE from the family of a gentleman in Michigan who had owned the car since purchasing it new in Nevada. The '91 SE was the first special edition variant of the Miata, and actually came with a plaque on the center console showing the owner's name and production number of the car. As we purchased the car from the original owner, the name on the plaque matches the name on the title. That same tag tells us that the car is #233 of a production run of 5000 units. As it sits, this car is in excellent shape both from a cosmetic and a mechanical standpoint. We've been having a ton of fun with the car, driving it often and making minor refreshments along the way, doing things like refinishing the Nardi shift knob, servicing the R12 air conditioning, buffing the paint, as well as changing the oil, fuel pump, and valve cover gaskets.

Exterior:

First off, paint. British Racing Green over tan looks just perfect on these cars. Original paint (confirmed with elcometer) presents very well. There are a few blemishes that have all been touched up, the most significant being a scratch on the driver's rear quarter. Other blemishes include a scratch at the very bottom of the driver's door, a scratch behind the front license plate mount, and a nick on the passenger rear wheel well. Paint shines bright, and clear coat isn't peeling or fading. This car will come with a black soft top as well as a hardtop, both of which are in excellent shape. The previous owner told us he never even used the soft top; he always either opted for the hardtop or top down. Clear plastic rear view window is like-new. All four wheels are in nice shape, with no damage and little sign of age. Tires are close to new in terms of tread wear, but look to be slightly older. Glass is all clear and crack free. Driver's side taillight has a hairline crack. Body panels are all VIN stamped and original.

Interior:

Interior is in very nice condition. Dash is in excellent shape, as are the seats. Seats were re-dyed the same color last year and show little-to-no age. Air conditioning was recently serviced (R12) and blows cold. Nardi shift knob and handbrake contrast nicely with the tan interior. Tan carpeting is in nice shape, with no stains or frayed spots. Odometer reads 79,544 and is functional and accurate. All lights and signals are functional, as is the radio.

Mechanical:

These cars are a real pleasure to drive, and this particular Miata feels excellent on the road. There are absolutely no tendencies or noises of any concern. Suspension is smooth and supple, with no clanking or creaking over bumps. Shifts are quick and easy. Clutch grabs just as it should, brakes do a great job of reeling the car in from speed. The car tracks straight under both acceleration and braking. Buy with confidence, we wouldn't hesitate to drive the car anywhere in the country. Underneath the car looks very good, as you'd expect from a garage-kept, fairly modern car. Bone dry, with no rust.

Car will be sold with original manual and accompanying booklets. Please feel free to reach out to Jake at 773-267-2684 with any further questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing.
