VIN: JHMBB1175TC000579

We purchased this excellent '96 Prelude VTEC from a local gentleman, the second owner, who had purchased the car back in 1999 with just 20k miles on it. He put another 60k miles on the car over the course of his twenty year ownership, and took great care of the car. We've been familiar with this very car for close to a decade, the now-previous owner having been a long time paint/detailing customer of ours. In late 2017, at 75,495 miles, the car was really gone-through and refreshed; this service included replacement of the timing belt and tensioner, water pump, balance shaft tensioner, camshaft seal, all four tires, brake pads, and a R134a air conditioning rebuild. A couple years earlier, in 2015, the clutch master and slave cylinder were replaced, as well as the exhaust flex pipe, muffler, and pipe. This very well-spec'd and well-taken-care-of Prelude is a great example that is need of nothing. Daily driver ready, and tons of fun.

Exterior:
Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is covered in detail. Blemishes are all shown close up and under direct sunlight. Azure Blue Green is a great color for the car, especially complemented by the tan leather interior. We've done little bits of paint work on the car over the years as a result of little scuffs and scratches, nothing significant. About half the car retains original paint….the bits of paintwork that were done were done to a very high standard and appear even and as-factory. Car looks really, really good. There are a couple little spots of bubbling on the passenger's rear quarter, right where it meets the rear bumper behind the wheel. The rest of the body is pretty impressive. The car was gone over by a paintless dent repair expert and is free of any dents or little dings. Black front lip isn't scuffed up or disfigured, nice and clean. Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free, and all lights and signals are functional. Original wheels show a fair bit of curb rash around the outer ring, no real damage though. Continental tires are in great shape, new in 2017 and the DOT number indicates they were manufactured in 2016.

Interior:
Again, please defer to the photos and video, as the all-original interior is shown in detail. Tan leather seats are in impressive shape; driver's outer bolster has some small scuffs and crease marks, but aside from that, front and rear seats are extremely nice. This car clearly didn't often see passengers, as the passenger's seat is seriously mint. Dash top is free of any visible age. Black plastic is all very clean, not scratched-up or tired-looking. Original tan carpeting looks its age a bit in the front, rear is very nice, no significant stains, fraying, or anything like that. Original Prelude-branded floormats are in good shape and will come with the car. Power sunroof is functional. Power windows, locks, and mirrors are all functional. Alpine AM/FM/CD radio is functional. Heat, fan, and R134a air conditioning are all functional. Digital dash is all functional, no warning lights. This car does have cruise control. Odometer reading of 89,400 is well documented and known to be accurate. Please inquire for a scan of the clean Autocheck report and other service records, but mileage is recorded as 29k in 2000, 44k in 2013, 66k in 2016, and 89,400 today, all under the same owner.

Under the Hood / Underbody:
Underbody is really, really nice. Especially for a Chicago car. This car has been garage-kept and responsibly owned and it shows. No rust whatsoever. Please take a look through the photos. The car runs and drives really, really well. These cars are awfully peppy and well-balanced, yet still economical and comfortable. The car always starts first turn, it idles cool, steady, and quiet, and pulls hard through the gears. Clutch feel is nice, both up and downshifts are smooth. The car stops very well, and tracks straight under both acceleration and braking. No rattles or suspension clunks, and relatively new tires is a plus. This particular car is definitely one of the good ones. Buy with confidence. Wouldn't hesitate to road trip tomorrow.
