We purchased this fantastic, time-capsule-like 1966 Dodge Monaco 500 from a gentleman in Ohio whose uncle had purchased the car new at West Side Motors of Columbus. Upon the original owner's passing in the late 80s, his nephew became custodian of the car, and it remained a prized possession ever since. This car has survived in tremendous, entirely unmodified condition, and has never even seen paint work. All the original documents were kept in a binder along with the car, including the window sticker, handwritten dealer invoice, original title and bank note, manuals, and even a couple photos from just after the car was brought home from the dealership. As it sits now, this is a phenomenally impressive, low-mile “survivor” in the excellent White/Blue colorway.

Exterior:
Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown up close, though there aren't many. Blemishes are limited to a handful of touched-up chips and scratches scattered about the car, with the most significant scratch located on the driver's rear quarter. We have confirmed with an elcometer that this car wears 100% original paint; paint gauge readings show between 1.9 and 2.8 on every corner of every panel, which is so impossibly rare on cars of this vintage. Glass is all clear and crack-free, with no scratches or streak marks. Panel fitment is spot on, and doors open and close nice and smoothly. Wheels are in excellent shape, tires look good, no dry rot, but they're older than would be ideal. Polished trim pieces are in very nice shape, with no oxidation or damage other than a minor dent on the driver's side rocker trim, visible in the photos. Front and rear chrome bumpers are mint. Weatherstripping is great, not dry or cracking.

Interior:
Interior is in seriously beautiful original condition. Again, please defer to the photos and video. Really the only part of the interior that shows any noteworthy wear or aging is the carpet, and even that looks quite good. Very minor discoloring on the footwells in the back seat, no fraying, tears, etc. Car will come with a set of black rubber floormats as well. Gauges are all functional, and even the analog clock in the gauge cluster is functional. Odometer reading of 44,618 is accurate based on known history from new, as well as a handful of records. Radio does power on and the speakers sound all good, but so far we've only heard static, no music. Heat and fan are functional. Headliner is clean and tight. Windows all roll up and down smoothly and seal up tight. Blue vinyl is in excellent shape throughout – no burst seams, punctures, or scrapes.

Underbody/Under the Hood:
Please take a look at the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car was undercoated at the dealer when new and garage kept since. Original undercoating has served its purpose, as the car is very sound underneath. Never had any metal work. There is surface rust scattered about on suspension and exhaust components, nothing of particular concern.

The car runs and drives quite well, but could use a going-over prior to being fully exercised and enjoyed. The car hasn't seen many miles as of late, with the owner only putting 2000 miles on it since inheriting from his late uncle in 1988, so there are a couple things to be aware of. The front left brake caliper hangs up a bit, so the car will pull left when you first get on the brake pedal. There is also a very slight hesitation when you first get on the throttle from idle, then after a split second it will accelerate smoothly. Aside from those brake/carburetor tendencies, which are to-be-expected items from a car that hasn't seen routine use in a while, the car is a real sweetheart. It's immediately recognizable upon seeing this car in person, they don't get much better. The car fires right up, idles quiet and steady, stays cool, shifts smoothly and on-time, tracks straight, and the ride quality is excellent.
