What a cool project for someone with bodywork know-how. We purchased this car from a local gentleman who had owned it since 1970. His dad's best friend had bought the car new at E. Fronteras & Co. Ferrari in January of 1961, then drove it like crazy throughout the 60s. In just those first nine years the car rusted almost to how you see it today...ahhh classic Italian cars. Since 1970 this car has been stored indoors as an “I'll get to it eventually” project, and reportedly looks just about identical today to how it did when put away fifty years ago. In the early 2000s, the owner decided he'd start to dive into it, so he had the fuel tank refinished and lined, changed the oil and plugs, but then project then stalled again. Just this year he finally realized it's time to let somebody else tackle the project and ensure a bright future for the car, so here we are today.
Take a good look through the photos to get a feel for condition, as the photos show the car in detail. We did put a battery pack to it, and the fog lights, wipers, and gauges do seem to be functional. Glass is clear and crack-free, but the driver window is a challenge to roll up and down. While the engine does not run, it is free and is the correct, original “high-hp” 100.004 Special unit. A complete unopened engine gasket set will come with the car, as will the front and rear bumpers, hubcaps, and the other items you see in the listing.
