Assembled in Pontiac, Michigan and sold new at McKee Pontiac of Oregon City, Oregon, this Can Am later moved to Iowa, then Colorado, then Nebraska, where we acquired it. We love oddball cars like the Can Am….the limited-production, heavily-optioned varieties of regular production models. The Can Am was just that, a LeMans spec'd to the moon with a 400ci W72 4BBL V8, TH400 automatic, Safe-T-Track differential, power front disc brakes, Rally RTS handling package, Rally gauges, louvered quarters, and more...somewhat like the GTO that had come years before it. There were just over 1300 Can Ams built during their 1977-only production run, and who knows how many remain on the road today. Certainly not many. This particular example is truly a good one, having been well cared for, routinely exercised, and garage kept. This car will come with a binder of documentation including the original manuals, factory shipping order, new vehicle dealer inspection report, Pontiac Historical Society documents, period literature, and a few service records. As it sits now, this beautiful Can Am is ready to be used and enjoyed.

Exterior:
Please take a good look through the photos and video, as the car is shown in detail. This car has been resprayed in the correct Cameo White and presents very well. Paint was clearly done to a high standard; no dust nibs, orange peel, paint run. We have buffed and waxed the car and it looks fantastic. Blemishes to be aware of include regular road chips scattered about the lower front end, a small bubble at the bottom rear corner of the passenger door, and a spot of previous rust repair along the inner hood crease on the passenger side, only visible with the hood up. Overall the car is very clean and dry. Decals are in great shape, not tired, fading, or peeling. Weatherstripping is in nice shape, not dry or crumbling. White rally wheels are in nice shape as well, with no rash or damage on the trim rings, nothing more than the slightest bit of oxidation on the wheels themselves. BFG Radial TAs look to be fairly new, with no dryness or significant wear. Body is nice and straight, with no dents, dings, or creases. Glass and light lenses are clear and crack-free throughout. Polished bumpers shine nice and bright with no oxidation. Panel fitment is good, doors open and close nice and smoothly.

Interior:
Black vinyl bucket seats are in great shape. They do appear to have been recovered (err, the fronts at least), and the vinyl shows no punctures, burst seams, or significant scuffs. Seats feel good, not blown out or shedding their lining. Dash is in excellent shape – no cracks or adhesive marks. Odometer reads 9,285 miles and is believed to indicate 109,285 actual miles, as evidenced by a service record of a carburetor rebuild in 2004 at 95,042 miles while the car was in Iowa. Gauges are all functional with the exception of the analog clock. The original radio has been replaced with a Kenwood unit with an aux hookup, radio is functional and sounds great. Original radio is not included in the sale. Fan and heat are good, and this car does not have air conditioning. Lights and signals are all functional, as are are wipers and horn. Black carpeting is relatively new, a set of black floormats will also come with the car. Headliner is clean and tight, sunvisors hold their position.

Underbody/Under the Hood:
Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is shown in detail. Underbody is quite good. There is evidence of a once fingertip-sized through spot on the driver's rear floor which has been repaired. Very solid throughout. No active leaks of note. This car retains its original, unmodified drivetrain. Casting numbers and date codes all check out, and the correct VIN is clearly legible at the front of the block. This car fires right up first turn without fail, idles nice and steady, pulls hard with no hesitation or stuttering, shifts smoothly and on-time, tracks straight and doesn't wander, brakes straight and effectively, stays cool, and sounds fantastic. Mean but not too too loud. No to-dos, this car is ready to be routinely used and enjoyed. Buy with confidence.
