What we know:
We purchased this '91 Miata SE from only the second owner, who has owned the car since 1993. The '91 SE was the first special edition variant of the Miata, and actually came with a plaque on the center console showing the owner's name and production number of the car. The prior owner wished to retain his plaque so he ordered a blank one to transfer with the car. We know that this is car #136 of 3,997 BRG-SE from '91. As it sits, this car is in excellent shape both from a cosmetic and a mechanical standpoint, given that it is approaching 32 years of age. We've been having a ton of fun with the car, driving it often. It has some normal wear and tear as you might expect and we have done our best to outline everything that we see.

Exterior:
First off, paint. British Racing Green over tan looks just perfect on these cars. Original paint (confirmed with our paint gage) presents well. There are blemishes throughout that can be seen in our pics and vids. The only area of rust we note is on the lower edge of the passenger fender. The prior owner tried to cover the spot with a textured rocker guard adhesive, as you can see. It is non-structural and would be a pretty easy repair should you feel the need to address it. There are some dings and knicks and abrasions throughout but all panels and paint on the car are original to it. The front bumper has been abused in the prior owner's garage spot and should be refinished. The right front wheel opening has some rash on the edge from a close call with a parking block. We wanted to represent the car as it sits and let the onus of a repair be a decision for the new owner. All panels are VIN coded and match the VIN which is really important towards the originality and condition over the years. Paint shines bright, and clear coat isn't peeling or fading. This car has the black soft top as well as the original hardtop, both of which are in excellent shape. It comes with the tan boot for the folding top. The soft top rear zip-in plastic shows some sun burning but is completely intact. All four wheels are in nice shape, with no damage and little sign of age. Tires are close to new in terms of tread wear. Glass is all clear and crack free. Body panels are all VIN stamped and original.
Interior:
Interior is in very nice condition. The dash has some of the normal Miata 'stick' to it but is otherwise very presentable. The gages are all nice and clear and the instrument panels show nicely. The bolster of the drivers side seat has a seam that is pulled apart but otherwise the interior is very nice. Carpets look like new and the car will come with the original floor mats (not shown). Air conditioning blows cold. Odometer reads 56,688 and is functional and accurate. All lights and signals are functional, as is the radio.
Mechanical:
These cars are a real pleasure to drive, and this particular Miata feels excellent on the road. It has been well cared for over the years with no expenses spared on mechanical. Recently the car had the timing belt, waterpump, head gasket replaced at a Mazda dealer (service record included). The transmission was recently refreshed and is in excellent working order. There are absolutely no tendencies or noises of any concern. Suspension is smooth and supple, with no clanking or creaking over bumps. Shifts are quick and easy. The car accelerates quickly and the brakes do a great job of reeling the car in from speed. The car tracks straight under both acceleration and braking. Buy with confidence, we wouldn't hesitate to drive the car anywhere in the country. Underneath the car looks very good, as you'd expect from a garage-kept, fairly modern car.
