We are pleased to present this exceptionally clean 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL. This car was purchased new in 1989 by Margaret Jaksich from Mathieu Imports, and we have the original window sticker included with the car. Margaret maintained careful ownership of the vehicle until her passing at 96 years old in 2014. She left the car to her nephew, Paul, from whom we recently acquired it.

This 560 SL comes complete with both the soft top and hardtop, along with all books, paperwork, and multiple key sets. Extensive service records document Margaret's meticulous care over the years. Since being passed down, the car has spent most of its time stored in a heated family garage in a Chicago suburb. The previous owner had little interest in maintaining or driving it regularly. We are proud to bring this 560 SL to market and have done our best to represent it with full transparency and detail.

Exterior
The body of this 560 SL is straight, with no signs of significant repairs. Panel fitment is excellent, with all doors and panels lining up properly. All trim, hardware, lights, lenses, and glass are in great condition.

The paint retains a deep shine with no clear coat fading, though minor blemishes are expected for its age. We were told Margaret never removed the hardtop, and its flawless condition supports that claim. The wheels are clean with some light fading, and the bumpers and chrome present nicely.

There are two small rust spots: one around the driver's side door molding trim and some minor paint blistering at the bottom of the passenger fender and quarter panel. These are surface-level and have not rusted through. Photos and video provide better detail.

The tires show minimal wear and appear like new, though their exact age is unknown. Additionally, there is a small, touched-up dent on the right rear quarter panel.

Interior
The factory-optioned gray leather interior presents beautifully and is consistent with the mileage. The original carpets are exceptionally clean, and the interior is fully intact. The wood trim on the dash is in outstanding condition—rare for this model.

Notably, the dashboard remains original, with no aftermarket dash cap, and all gauges function properly. The cigarette lighter has never been used, and there are no signs of smoking—just a clean, original interior.

The seats are in excellent shape, with only minor wear on the driver's side bolster. The car includes its original Mercedes-Benz First Aid Kit (unopened), a good spare in the trunk, a new battery (installed in 2025), and a hardtop stand for easy storage.

Mechanicals
Under the hood sits the original 5.6L Mercedes-Benz V8, which remains tidy and well-preserved. It runs smoothly, maintaining a steady idle and proper operating temperature.

Given its limited use in recent years, the car would benefit from routine fluid services and hose inspections. It has already been fitted with two new fuel pumps.

The transmission shifts smoothly, and the car tracks straight on the road. Braking is strong and even, with no signs of suspension concerns. Overall, it delivers a stable and enjoyable driving experience.

Final Thoughts
This 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL is a rare find, boasting documented long-term ownership, original components, and careful preservation. Whether you're looking for a weekend cruiser or a collectible classic, this SL is a fantastic choice.
